General Comments

Neodypsis lastelliana, The Red Neck Palm, is an emergent palm growing in Madagascan forest up to 1000 meters above sea level. Young Red Necks require protection from sun and enjoy a shady, wet environment. Mature species in the wild will often rise above the forest canopy and will do well in full sun conditions. The felty, hairy, brown-red crownshaft makes this an usual-looking palm tree and the dark green leaves are beautiful, especially as the spearleaf first opens.
