Origin: South-East Asia Flowers: Monoecious Habitat: Coastal swamp Conservation Status: Uncommon

The Sealing Wax Palm can still be seen in it's natural habital in coastal swamp areas of Malaysia and
southern Thailand. It is a clumping palm and is prized for its scarlet crownshaft, petioles and leaf-bases. Cyrtostachys renda requires tropical conditions and constant watering to survive. Seeds have limited viability and should be sown when the seed is still very fresh, and seeds germinate within a couple of months.
Cyrtostachys renda will grow in shade or full sun provided enough water is present. Plants dry out and die very easily.
